Police were last evening tightlipped on the loss of US$4,900 (about $1M) which reportedly went missing from the office of the Officer-in-Charge of the Central Police Station, New Amsterdam, sometime on Monday.
The money, which reportedly was the personal property of the officer, was apparently left in a bag that also contained other documents belonging to the officer. He reportedly left it in his office and went out. On his return, the money was not there.
A source said that the Assistant Superintendent’s office is frequented by many and it would be difficult to pinpoint the culprit.
