The Samaroo family of Anna Regina New Housing Scheme is grieving the loss of their eldest child, 17-year-old Lawrence Samaroo.
Reports are that Samaroo, who attended the Cotton Field Secondary School, was cleaning his motorcycle yesterday afternoon when he came into contact with a naked switch in the bottom flat of their two-flat house.
Sharon Samaroo, the boy’s mother, said that she had left her home to go to a nearby shop when she received the tragic news. Mrs Samaroo added that she left the shop screaming and when she reached home she saw Lawrence lying in a chair.
She said that the maid explained that Lawrence was washing his motorcycle. She added that after Lawrence inserted a plug into the switch, he fell to the ground.
Mrs Samaroo further noted that Lawrence did not die at home, but at Abrams Zuil, a couple of Villages before he reached Suddie Public Hospital, where he was headed for medical treatment.
Police subsequently visited the scene.
Meanwhile, neighbours upon learning about the incident gathered at the Samaroo’s resident in support of the deceased parents.
