…Robert Williams still hospitalised
A unanimous decision by Georgetown City Councillors yesterday saw Councillor Patricia Chase- Green
installed as Deputy Mayor.
She has replaced Robert Williams who has been hospitalized since late last year.
The motion for Chase-Green to function in place of Williams was passed at the Council’s first statutory meeting for 2012.
Robert Williams has not resigned and his position is not vacant.
Williams, who has held the post of Deputy Mayor for over a decade, was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital on December 16, 2011, after suffering what appeared to be a heart attack.
Kaieteur News was told that Williams arrived at the hospital and was immediately placed on a cardiac machine.
Meanwhile, the Council which is managed by a system of committees also filled a number of vacancies, some created because of the ill health or resignations on the part of some committee members. (Kristen Macklingam)
