When contacted on Monday, outgoing Regional Chairman, Mr Zulfikar Mustapha, stated that the new Regional Democratic Council (RDC), will vote when it reconvenes later this month and a new Chairman will be elected.
He said that Mr Armogan has been tipped for the position.
Mustapha, during the RDC’s Annual Press Conference held in late December did hint that he would be demitting office shortly even though he stated that he was “offered” to stay on by the President.
“I am still considering, because my view is that we should not be in a position for too long….and I feel an honour to continue but I am still considering to see what is my next step. And the [majority of the] residents of Region Six are calling on me to serve again. I still have couple days more to make up my mind”, he related during that press conference.
When contacted, Mr Armogan stated that when the time comes for him to be elected by the RDC, he would ensure that he works with all stakeholders for the development of Region 6.
