Kennard’s Memorial of Bush Lot Farm on the Corentyne became the first team to reach the last 16 playoffs
of the 2011 New Building Society (NBS) second division 40 over cricket competition in Berbice by winning their last preliminary match to end as winners of Zone K.
In the match which was played at Bush Lot Farm Ground, Kennard’s Memorial took first strike and posted 215 for 9 from their 30 overs against Mibicuri Strikers.
Leading the way was Doodnauth Ramnarine with a classy 98 decorated with 10 fours and 2 sixes. Ramnarine held the innings together as wickets fell at the other end; he put on 84 for the 4th wicket with Thomas George who contributed 18; and for the 5th wicket he added 44 with Hemraj Mankarran hitting 16.
Ravi Sooklall took 3 for 48, Lekhram Paltee 2 for 26 and Dwayson Watson 2 for 40 for Mibicuri Strikers (MS) who in return were confronted with the pace of Hemraj Mankarran and the off spin of Quincy Grimmond.
The two bowlers combined to skittle out MS for a meagre 27 of which extras topped with 12. Grimmond ended with 5 for 4 from 4.3 overs and Mankarran 5 for 11 from 5 overs to lead their team to a massive 188-run victory.

At Cumberland – Young Warriors beat Tucber Park A by 69 runs. Young Warriors 163 in 25 overs; Mortimer Fraser 44, Vedesh Singh 43, Nial Smith 3 for 33, Steve Sinclair 2 for 11 and Andrew Williams 2 for 31. Tucber Park A 94 in 23.1 overs; Charran Singh 3 for 15 and
Shazad Khan 2 for 8.
At Albion Front – Travelers beat Jai Hind by 41 runs. Travelers 163 in 34.1; Anthony Ramoutar 32, Prabhudyal Baldeo 30, Naytram Nanchipen 26 and Lakraj Veerasammy 4 for 32. Jai Hind 122 in 28 overs; Satesh Mangal 33, Bhupendre Matodin 3 for 14, Chemendre Goberdhan 2 for 12 and Satesh Hiralall 2 for 41.
