…entire market area for complete overhaul – Ministry Official
After being defunct for more than two decades, the traffic signal (light) outside the Stabroek Market Square will this week be operational once again.
Yesterday technicians from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications were observed effecting repairs to the traffic signal.
Terrence O’ Brien, Senior Electrical Engineer within the Public Works Ministry with responsibility for the Traffic Lights in the city confirmed that the Ministry was effecting the repairs.
He said that the decision to rehabilitate to the light comes out of a joint undertaking to completely overhaul the entire Stabroek Market Area.
O’Brien says that the ministry does not envisage any chaos with the activation of the Traffic Signal.
O’Brien explained that the Light could have been up and running by today but because of a disparity in the wiring and conduits used, the technicians had to modify the connections.
He said that the Light will be activated this week.
