Mahaica murder suspect remains in police custody

Just one day after 25 year-old Orin Anthony Forde was stabbed to death by his cousin, residents of Mahaica are still trying to come to grip with the news.
Meanwhile, the man who dealt Forde the fatal stab wound was still in police custody up to press time yesterday. This publication was told that the suspect has since admitted to investigators that he stabbed Forde but didn’t mean to kill him.
The police nabbed the man identified as Mark Major after one of his friends led them to where he was hiding out.
Early Friday morning, Forde who works as a miner in the interior was stabbed during an argument with his cousin at an abattoir in Helena No. 1 Mahaica.
Relatives had told this publication that Forde left his home after indicating to his stepmother that he was going to collect some money from someone. Moments later relatives received a telephone call saying that Forde was injured during an altercation at the abattoir.
This is the second murder so far for the year. The first victim was 65-year-old Bebe Jahooral Banu who was found strangled in her home at De Willem, West Coast Demerara. The Police have not made any headway as yet into that murder.
