Alim Fareed, 25, a labourer of 44 Number 79 Village, Corriverton, Berbice has been remanded to jail after he was found with two kilograms of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He appeared at the Whim Magistrate’s court before Magistrate Fabio Azore.
On New Year’s Day the police after conducting surveillance apprehended the man at Albert Street, Corriverton where he was found with the prohibited substance in his possession.
In court he pleaded not guilty. His lawyer, Ryan Crawford, pleaded for bail for his client. However Prosecutor Figueira opposed bail stating that no special circumstances were proposed by the defence and any such circumstances should be in regards to the offence and not the offender.
The matter has been transferred to the Springlands court.
