Telecommunications giant, Guyana Telephone and Telegraph ( GT&T) came in for
GT&T CEO Mr. Yog Mahadeo, President of Berbice Chamber Imran Saccor with his spouse and GT&T 2011 Winners Gail Ann Singh and Brandon Harding at Albion Sports Complex
much praise from the Berbice Chamber for its commitment and dedication toward helping to develop the lives of young people in Guyana.
These sentiments were shared by Imran Saccoor, President of the Berbice Chamber. Saccoor stated that “GTT has opened a gateway of opportunities to the many young and talented performers in both the Bollywood and English segments of the Jingles Competition and it is hoped that the artistes can follow up on their talents in helping to raise and change the waive of the music industry in Guyana”.
He continued, “The performances no doubt throughout the tournament were phenomenal and GT&T must be commended for connecting with the Guyanese populace”.
As a corporate business, the Chamber believes that GT&T has lived and upheld the promise of giving back to its community and the Jingles and Song Competition, The 10/10 Countrywide Cricket, $1 Minute talk and other special promotions are all testimony to the company’s commitment of giving back.
Berbician Gale Ann Singh was heartily congratulated for her performances throughout the competition. “The Chamber joins with the rest of the Guyanese populace in wishing her and the English counterpart winner, Brandon Harding, of Linden all the best on their achievements and hope that they will continue to further excel in the Music Industry.”
The Chamber in the meanwhile is joining the call for the Region to have modern indoor centres like cultural centres and auditoriums, etc so that Berbice can be more competitive in hosting events without being threatened by inclement weather and other unsavoury conditions.
“We are heartened that a competition of such calibre came to our region and we trust that GT&T will continue to make Berbice the hometown venue for this segment of their competition. Also the Chamber wishes to encourage and appeal to GTT to consider for their 2012 tournament to bring the finals of the GTT 10/10 to Berbice since the County is a “cricket crazy region” and the support for the game is enormous”.
