Relatives of the late Anand Bhaskar Ramdeo listened to several glowing tributes yesterday during a memorial
service for him at Queen’s College.
Those in attendance included Minister within the Ministry of Finance, Juan Edghill, and teachers and students of Queen’s College.
At yesterday’s service, teachers and students praised the lad for his outstanding performances.
According to Ramdeo’s class teacher, the student was a typical 13-year-old, who was often mischievous and jovial.
“He was very active; that is something I really liked about him and he certainly will be missed,” the teacher added. She also stated that he was smart, very humorous, while adding that she overheard one of his class mates saying that the class would not be the same without Ramdeo.
Two years ago the second form student was among Guyana’s top achievers at the Grade Six Assessment examination, gaining 544 marks at the exams, and earning a place at Queen’s College.
But on December 29, tragedy struck when the 13-year-old of Good Hope, East Coast Demerara and family members went at the St Cuthbert’s Mission creek for a family outing.
The lad, his six-year-old niece and another female reportedly were travelling in a boat when the craft capsized.
The second form Queen’s College student managed to save his six-year-old niece, but lost his own life.
