After glowing tributes from the local basketball community, family and friends,

former national basketball coach, Phillip George was laid to rest yesterday at the LeRepentir Cemetery following a funeral service at Our Lady of Fatima Church.
George, who was at the time of his death, Head Coach of the Bounty Colts Club, is credited with leading several junior national teams to overseas competitions. In addition, he piloted the careers of notable Guyanese players, Lorenzo Withrite and Andrew Ifill.
George, who was also known as ‘One Foot’, ‘Coach Man’ and most recently ‘Mr. Fundamental’ passed away on December 20, 2012; he was 63 years old. The renowned local Basketball Coach was one of the most consistent visitors of the Burnham Basketball Court.
