The Guyana Softball League will collaborate with several of its affiliates to host a countrywide preparatory T10 softball cricket tournament for males and females teams around the country, scheduled to get underway soon.
The other supporting entities are Georgetown Softball Cricket League (GSCL); Linden Softball Cricket League (LSCL); The Lower East Coast Softball Cricket League (LECSCL); Upper East Coast Softball Cricket League (UECSCL); Berbice Softball Cricket League (BSCL) and the Essequibo Softball Cricket League (ESCL).
Dubbed ‘The Preparatory Cricket tournament,’ the aim of the competition is to provide a platform for the preparation of teams for the upcoming GTT 10/10 to be contested on a knockout basis and already teams are being asked to contact identified representatives to commence the registration period.
Several corporate entities have acquiesced to sponsorship deals including Moonlite Trading Company of Lamaha Street Kitty; Regal Stationery and Computer Centre of Seaforth Street Campbellville; Elegance Jewelry and Pawnshop of Durban Street and Mike’s Copy Centre of Camp Street.
Lucrative prizes will be on offer and the winners of the Male Open competition walks off with $100,000 and a trophy with $40,000 and a trophy going to the runners up. The man of the match in the finals receives $10,000 and a trophy.
The winning female open team receives $50,000 and a trophy while the runners up win $25,000 and a trophy. The woman of the match in the finals will win $5,000 and a trophy.
Additionally, an over 35 category 20/20 tournament will be played in all of the affiliate areas and the winners of this category receive $75,000 while the runners up will play their way to $35,000. The man of the match in the finals walks off with $5,000 and a trophy.
Meanwhile, the management of the respective supporting corporate entities has voiced their pleasure at supporting the organizers towards the development of the sport. They all agreed that sports play an important role in nation development while enhancing the interaction of the participating communities.
The parent body, the Guyana Softball League has expressed gratitude for the support even as it signaled an intention of soliciting further support to enhance the quantity of incentives on offer. These executives have also pledged do all in their power to repay the supporting corporate entities for their chivalry.
