‘Air Canada’ could enter local market shortly-PSC Chairman

Air Canada is in discussion with the local Private Sector Commission (PSC) to start flights between Guyana and Canada.
PSC’s Chairman, Ramesh Dookhoo, speaking with reporters, noted that air travel between the two countries has rapidly increased in recent years.
As such, the PSC will be pursuing initiatives that could result in the Canadian airline operating out of Guyana.
“The Private Sector will be working with the Canadian High Commissioner to encourage Air Canada to come to Guyana as we now have an all-time high in business travel between Guyana and Canada.”
Attracting additional international carriers, he said, would therefore serve to boost tourism and business travel to the South American destination
Air Canada is that nation’s largest full-service airline.
Recently, EZjet Air Services was licensed by the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority and US Department of Transportation to fly the Guyana route.
The company was founded to address the long standing dissatisfaction with the current level of service offered by other carriers while travelling to and from Guyana.
EZjet has obtained US DOT Approval and is awaiting final approval from the Government of Guyana.
Market demands favor the introduction of a Guyana operator providing additional air transport services that will provide a higher quality of passenger service between Guyana and the United States
The US certificated air carrier will be operating six weekly scheduled non-stop flights between Georgetown and New York JFK, flying a B767-200 aircraft with 218 seats.
