Dear Editor,
Your Sunday December 25, 2011 edition under the headline “Five-year-old abducted, raped’ I am somewhat surprised that to date I haven’t heard any word of condemnation from the various women’s groups all across Guyana and I’m beginning to wonder why.
I am an avid reader of the “Kaieteur News” and if a comment was offered in any one of the other dailies by a group then my apologies to these groups especially the Red Thread that instead of going and launching protests on the road, should go public and offer support to the many women who are being abused on daily basis.
The group may also offer support to the family members of those women who were killed. Now here it is; a five-year-old is brutally raped and from all indications her condition may be serious and yet I haven’t heard of any condemnation from all those responsible parents or even our community leaders with the exception or Mr Tagenauth.
It is about time that we as parents come together irrespective of race or political affiliations and let these pedophiles, child molesters, rapists and others of the same ilk know that we will not sit by idly and tolerate their nefarious actions, because tomorrow it could be our children or a child that we are very fond of.
By the way, is the Honourable Minister or Social Services at work or is she still on Christmas vacation. I honestly do hope that the Police will act quickly and bring to justice the perpetrator(s) of this heinous act and to that little child who I do not know I wish a speedy recovery.
