Dear Editor,
We, the retired employees of GuySuCo, and former workers of their Blairmont, Rose Hall, Albion and Skeldon locations respectively, have been dedicated workers for 25 to 40 years.
We have all been receiving a monthly pension. We discovered that only five years ago, 2006-2011.
An annual incentive of five per cent was awarded to all categories of workers except for 2011 when the government of Guyana awarded an eight per cent wages to all categories of workers.
We the former employees of the Berbice estates have not received any increase in our pension.
It is quite strange that all other pensioners who fall under the GAWU administration, have received their yearly increases.
Those workers who fall under NAACIE and have been listed a step in the GuySuCo roll have not received any wages increase for the last five years- 2006-2011.
We the former employees of the above named estates would like to call on the recently elected President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, and a man who was a member of the GuySuCo Management Board to ‘take note’ of the pensioner’s concerns.
We are asking you Mr. President, to rescue us from this situation.
