The Guyana Softball League and its affiliates: Georgetown Softball Cricket League (GSCL); Linden Softball Cricket League (LSCL); The Lower East Coast Softball Cricket League (LECSCL); Upper East Coast Softball Cricket League (UECSCL); Berbice Cricket League (BSCL) and the Essequibo Softball cricket league (ESCL) will be hosting a preparatory T10 softball cricket tournament for males and females softball cricket teams around the country.
The name of the tournament is The Preparatory T10 Softball Cricket Tournament and matches are due to commence on January 8.
This tournament is sponsored by Moonlite Trading Company of Lamaha Street Kitty; Regal Stationery and computer centre of Seaforth Street Campbellville; Elegance Jewellery and Pawnshop of Durban Street and Mike’s Copy Centre of Camp Street.
The tournament will allow teams to get much needed practice and also to help teams in the composition of their sides for the upcoming GT&T 10/10. It will be played on a knockout basis and all teams can register with the under mentioned representatives.
The prizes for the tournament are as follows: Male Open – winners – one hundred thousand dollars and a beautiful trophy
– runners up – forty thousand dollars and a trophy
– man of the match (final) – ten thousand dollars and a trophy
Female Open- winners – fifty thousand dollars and a trophy
– runners up – twenty five thousand dollars and a trophy
– woman of the match (final) – five thousand dollars and a trophy
In addition to the T10 there will be an Over-35 category which will be played in the 20/20 format and will be played in all the affiliate areas. The prizes for this category are as follows:
Winners – seventy five thousand dollars
runners up – thirty five thousand dollars
man of the match (final) – five thousand dollars and a trophy
The sponsors have willingly come forward to support this initiative and expressed that they are always willing to give their support to sports, which plays a great role in the inter action of all communities. The Guyana Softball League has expressed their gratitude for this support and will be approaching other entities for support to allow for other incentives to be given.
