Relatives of a 13-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted by one of her relatives have expressed disgust over the release of the perpetrator. Reports are that the victim and the perpetrator are cousins.
Further, the girl’s mother is encountering pressure because of the family ties. There is now talk that the incident could result in friction because of the family relationship.
The 13-year-old has been admitted to the Suddie Public Hospital, and has been there ever since she was raped on Christmas Eve night.
The victim, who lived with her mother and step father at Lima Sands, was reportedly assaulted after she had consumed alcohol with the perpetrator and a set of other young men in Anna Regina.
The school dropout left her Lima Sands home, earlier in the day for Anna Regina. The teenager’s mother was subsequently informed of the incident and the child was hospitalized.
A report was made and the perpetrator was detained, but has since been released having posting a large sum of station bail.
