The seven cricket teams of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC) for the 20th successive year hosted a highly successful Christmas Charity Programme for the less fortunate in the Ancient County.
The teams, RHT Farfan and Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19, Metro Females and Gizmos and Gadgets Under-21 and First Division organised several programmes under their personal development programme.
Club Secretary/CEO, Hilbert Foster, stated that the seven teams in 2011 hosted a combined total of 68 programmes. The teams launched the 2011 Christmas programme with donation of toys and goodies to 14 NGO’s and Churches including the Wesleyan Church, Assemblies of God, Port Mourant Catholic Church, the Berbice Cricket Board and the Congregation Church Kiddies School.
One hundred & twenty citizens on December 18, 2011, were treated to a special luncheon at the club’s restaurant and also received food hampers and gifts worth $8,000 each. Three hundred children were treated at a special Christmas Party on December 18, 2011 at the Area ‘H’ Ground while over 1000 toys were distributed across the Ancient County.
The long serving Secretary/CEO, also disclosed also disclosed that 40 pairs of new footwear and educational materials was shared out to students while clothing was also handed over to less fortunate families.
Foster hailed the management of the club and the seven cricket teams for working beyond the call of duty to make a positive difference and for touching the lives of so many people during the festive season. The teams which have been dominating cricket in Berbice have set themselves a target of 75 personal development programmes for 2012.

(Busta), DDL, Len’s Craft, Starr Computer, HA Snacks, Ricks and Sari Agro Industries, Farfan and Mendes, June Mendes, Kanhai’s Electrical, J’s Supermarket, Derek Seetaram, Kris Jagdeo, Bobby’s Boutique, Universal DVD, Marcel Crawford S.C, S. Tulsi, GT&T Cellink, Bakewell, DTV-8, Sase Narine Latchana Grocery, Shane Hardware, Leon Wiggins, Sham Grocery, R. Deodat, Silvinia Grocery, Ryan Rambarran, Toucan Industries, Dev Trucking Service, Askay Singh, Auto Design, Fredrick Rengasmi, Anil Beharry, BCB, Poonai Bhirooj and FM Hardware.
The club would also like to express gratitude to the hundreds of Berbicians who responded to the DTV-8 advertisement and donated toys and clothing towards the programme.
