An Old Year’s Night Bar B Que and family lime ended with a fatality for a Bush Lot family after one of its members
became a hit and run victim.
It was reported that 26-year-old Harinarine Rajpaul of Lot 17 Bush Lot, West Berbice, was making his way across the public road when he was struck down by a white Toyota 192 car at around 10:15hrs. The driver then fled the scene.
The lad was immediately rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital which referred him to the Mahaicony Regional Hospital where he died shortly after midnight.
The young man’s cousin, Marko Ramkissoon, told Kaieteur News that the lime was being kept at his house which is just across the road from where the deceased resided with his mother and an uncle.
He said that he was a bit engrossed in some task when sounds of glass breaking and persons scampering out to the road, caught his attention. Ramkissoon subsequently saw his cousin’s bloodied body lying on the road.
Kaieteur News was made to understand that a scan conducted on the scene led to the discovery of a few metallic pieces which, when put together fashioned the licence plate number- PKK 252.
Ramkissoon revealed that the owner of the vehicle is a woman who claims that she does not know who was driving the car at the time. Investigations are still continuing.
