A 52-year-old man whose father perished in a fire on Christmas Day was himself found dead in a Mandela

According to reports, the victim, Lance Robinson, was found slumped in a chair at his 528 Mandela Avenue house just before midnight. There were no marks of violence, and there are reports that Robinson, who was in a state of depression following his father’s death, was suffering from hypertension.
This publication was told that a female associate tried contacting Robinson for the better part of Thursday and became concerned when her calls went unanswered.
The woman who asked not to be identified said when she got to Robinson’s house she used a spare key to enter the house. On entering, she reportedly saw Robinson slumped and motionless in a chair.
She immediately contacted the police after realizing that he was dead.
After a brief investigation at the scene by the police Robinson’s body was taken by undertakers to the Lyken Funeral home.
On Christmas Eve morning last Robinson’s 90 year-old father, Cyril Robinson, along with 17-year-old Alfred Stephens, perished in a fire that destroyed a house at Public Road Kitty. According to the police reports, neighbours observed the building occupied by the victims on fire and raised an alarm. The fire service responded and subsequently extinguished the blaze but not before it had destroyed the building and a neighbouring house. The charred remains of Robinson and Stephens were later found among the debris.
This publication was told that ever since his father’s death, Robinson, who was a machine operator, fell into a state of depression.
