Journalists among awardees
Kaieteur News Sports journalist, Michael Benjamin and Jermaine Carter of the National Communications Network (NCN) will receive special awards when the Cavalier Sports and Tour Club (CS&TC) hosts an award ceremony to recognise the work of affiliates and friends towards the development of race walking over the fiscal year.
Several race walkers will also receive special prizes for their sterling performances over that period including national race walk champion, Rudolph Mitchell who has compiled a phenomenal record in excess of 100 unbeaten races over his brief tenure in the sport. He will receive the Race Walker of the Year award for his efforts while Donna Ramkisson will cart off the female version of the award.
Kenneth Singh will receive the trophy for the Junior Race Walker of the year with Roshawn Felix in the runners-up position. Jacqueline Argyle has been adjudged veteran race walker of the year with Debidyal Harold in the runner-up position.
CS&TC Coordinator, Olga Harry has also been singled out for her contribution to the promotion and organisation of the sport over the years while the input of members of the Corporate community has not gone unnoticed.
Towards this end, awards will be given to Managing Director of Modern Optical Services Ltd, Jose DaSilva for the staunch support rendered over the year as well as Commissioner General of the Guyana Revenue Authority, Kurshid Sattaur.
Others in line for awards are Public Service Minister, Dr Jennifer Webster, Natural Resource and Environment Minister, Robert Persaud and General Manager of the Guyana Beverage Co Ltd, Robert Selman. The awards ceremony will take place at a date and venue to be announced soon.
