A post mortem examination conducted yesterday on the remains of Oscar De Roche, who was murdered on Christmas Eve day at Enachu, Mazaruni, in Region Seven has revealed that he died from shock due to hemorrhage.
The post mortem was done yesterday by Government Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh.
Relatives, who witnessed the PM, yesterday told Kaieteur News that De Roche suffered from a wound to the right side of his chest. It penetrated his heart. There was another gaping wound on his head.
Relatives also disclosed that the police have informed them that one man was taken into custody and is likely to be charged in connection with the murder.
De Roche, a father of five, was shot and killed after he was involved in a heated argument with another man at Enachu, Mazaruni, in Region Seven. De Roche, 43, lived at Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara.
His reputed wife, Ivy Orna, had told Kaieteur News that she got the message shortly after 7:00hrs on December 24. The woman said that it was her husband’s employer who called and informed relatives.
Yesterday relatives still complained that they were not getting any further information from the employer, since according to them, he was the fittest person to tell them. According to relatives, the employer had promised to return calls to them but has not kept that promise.
Orna had told Kaieteur News that the last time they saw De Roche was in late November when he came to vote. His wife said that he had promised to be home for the New Year or for her birthday.
It was only last week that three men were shot and robbed after bandits relieved them of a quantity of raw gold. Miner, Cleveland Smithet was killed. His brother Trevor Smithet and Lloyd David were both shot during the robbery too
