Perseverance, dedication and a strong sense of discipline, complemented by a
firm belief in God are attributes that have seen a young police corporal being able to not only make a positive impression on his colleagues but to him also excelling academically.
It was just a few years ago that Police Corporal 19936, Orlanzo Webster, joined the police force but recently he was able to prove that his attributes could lead to sustained success.
Commitment to his academic studies saw him recently graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Strategic Marketing Management from the American University of Peace Studies, an internationally recognized institution, with a distinction. Two years earlier he had completed, with distinction too, a Diploma in the same area of study.
Webster, who hails from Hopetown Village, West Coast Berbice, in offering advice to other young police officers, said that it is wise “to invest some more of their time and money towards education.”
He urges also that regardless of the situation or circumstances in which an individual might find himself, that person should always seek to be honest and respect the rights of others, especially the small man.
He said that a positive impact must be created after a police officer’s job is executed. In addition, he noted that people, even those who have been able to accelerate their social standing, should “never forget where you came from and who helped you to get where you are because you may need them again.”
At the age of 28, Webster said that he is happy to have achieved success in a number of areas. These, he opined, will undoubtedly help to improve his performance as a police officer. While moving beyond the policing profession may very well be on the charts for him, Webster said that “I will never be ungrateful to the Guyana Police Force because it has built me beyond my expectations.”
