With less than a week away for the grand Finale in the 2011/2012 horseracing season, entries are rolling in for the New Year’s Day mega meet.
With the venue being the famous Rising Sun Turf Club at Arima Park, West Coast, Berbice, it is deemed a fitting venue for the close of the season, which will see nine races slated for the day’s programme.
With over $7M in cash and other goodies up for grabs, entries are filling up at a fast rate as all the animals will be hoping to put in a good showing to end the season on a high.
Nine races are carded for the day and so far over 40 horses have taken entry. According to the organizers the venue is in good condition despite the inclement weather and every effort is being made to have the venue in the best of condition. The stands and the toilet facilities have all been spruced up and the track dug up and rolled.
The best of the best are expected to be in action with horses such as the inform Jet set Go, Grande de Roja, The Message Got to Go, Night Crescendo, Home Bush Baby, Miss Orientate, Wad a Luck, Star tracer, Fairy Landing, Technology, Captain Crook, Damascus Dream, Marathon Man, Face the Fire, Gold Plated, Settle in Seattle, Serenity, Red Cloud, Work Force, Time have change and it feels like Gold all looking for the gold, We want revenge, Watch My shadow, Royal Champion, Swing Easy, Savion, Wicked Intention, Dubai Duchess, Top of the line, Face the music, Prado’s Gold, Bridal Stone Corner, Miracle Run, and the newly Imported Who So ever, The Clever cat and One crazy cat all expected to be in the running.
The feature B class event is another million dollar affair and will once again see prize monies tagged at close to $2M, with a first prize of standing at a sumptuous $1M and trophy with the distance being 1600M.
The three year old event for Horses Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies has a winners money of $500,000 over 1400M. The D Class event has a winner’s prize of $500,000 over a distance of 1300M.
The race for two year old horses bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies will see the winner racing away with $400,000 and trophy over 1300M. The race for F class animals will see the animals racing away with $350,000 and trophy over 1400M.
The G and lower showdown has a winner’s purse of $ 400,000 over 1100M. There is an H class race that has the winning set at $220,000 and is a 1400M event.
There are two I class events, both over 1300M the first is for horses classified ‘I’ and lower and will see the winner carting off $180, 000 The other I class event is for those classified I3 and lower and those with one win. The winner of that race will run away with $160,000.
Outstanding individual performers will be presented with trophies and other accolades compliments of Ramesh Sunich proprietor of Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
The Race will be held under the rules of the Rising Sun Turf Club and Bugle time is 12:30 hrs.
