A Shirley Field-Ridley Square resident is trying to ascertain whether thieves made off with his car while he slept or whether he’s the victim of an unscrupulous auto dealer.
Claudius London told Kaieteur News that he parked his grey Toyota Allion, PMM 2841, outside his home at around 04:15 hrs yesterday. But when he checked at around 09:00 hrs, the vehicle was gone.
Mr. London is puzzled and suspicious at the ease with which the ‘thieves’ escaped with his vehicle, without even arousing his two dogs.
“Not even the dogs barked and they usually sleep under the car,” he said.
The car owner suspects that persons hired by the auto dealer from whom he bought the car may be behind the disappearance. He believes that it is more than mere coincidence that persons working with the dealer seized the vehicle two Tuesdays ago.
Mr. London said that this happened after he failed to pay his monthly installment on time. The car was returned after he made the payment, but Mr. London suspects that the dealer may have a spare key to the vehicle.
According to Mr. London, he spoke to a relative of the auto dealer, who denied that the car had been repossessed.
He has reported the matter at the West Ruimveldt Outpost while continuing to search for the missing vehicle.
There have been numerous complaints about unscrupulous auto dealers hiring persons to steal vehicles from customers who fall behind in paying their installments.
