Madness is the order of the day. First there were the fires, many more than people expected. Then there were the robberies that ended in fatality. There are still the accidents, all of which could have been avoided.
One is going to be caused by a drunk driver who would spoil the holidays for some people. One man would be cursing his luck as he remains in hospital in pain and twisted limbs.
But what would be worse would be an altercation over some trivia. That altercation would spoil the event for many but it would spell disaster for a group of friends. The New Year would not dawn for two people.

A river disaster looms as people try to hurry home to maintain tradition. Rough seas and torrential rain would send a boat crashing into another. Those who would be rescued would be lucky to hold on to floating material.
Others are going to rush to their aid, but too late for some.

Another fire is going to strike when people least expect. Overloaded circuits are not the safest things in this world. Sadness often strikes when there is so much joy around.
