Mc Doom businesswoman found murdered
A Mc Doom businesswoman was found dead in her place of business around 07:30 yesterday

morning. Her body bore several stab wounds and her entire business and living quarters were ransacked.
The dead woman, 45-year-old Karen Reid-Patterson, was the proprietor of Flavor Cool Off Restaurant and Bar.
According to reports a woman who lives in another apartment in the two-storeyed building on the Mc Doom public road, made the discovery.
Persons in the area said it was customary for Patterson to be up and about early in the morning, cleaning and preparing her bar for business. However yesterday morning no one saw the woman up and about.
This raised some suspicions. Her friend who lives in the building noticed that the door to the business was open but there was no sign of Patterson. This publication was told that the woman called out for Patterson and after getting no answer, decided to go into the building to check.
Upon entering the building a source said there was blood splashed on the wall leading to the bar area as well on the floor leading to the bar. The woman was found sprawled on the floor behind the counter in the bar. An alarm was raised and the police were informed.
Some time later the police arrived and the woman’s body was taken away by undertakers of the Lyken Funeral home.
At the scene dozens of residents gathered outside of the premises. Many speculated that the woman may have known her attacker since from all indication there was no sign of forced entry to the building.
Outside of the building there were still empty bottles of alcoholic beverages and drinking glasses on a table. Persons who knew the woman said this was strange since every night no matter how late, Patterson closes her business she would take all her

tables and chairs inside and clean up before she closes. Also there were at least three broken chairs thrown around the table.
In addition, sources close to the investigation said that from all indication there appeared to have been a struggle between the woman and her attacker/attackers. There was blood throughout the bar area suggesting that the woman was dragged from one area to the area.
Patterson’s living area was completely ransacked and there was money scattered on the floor.
The dead woman’s brother, Denroy Reid, said his sister had been running the business for just over a year. He added that he was at home on the Essequibo Coast when he received a telephone call saying that his sister was murdered.
The grieving man added that himself and other relatives had been pleading with the woman to invite another relative to live with her since they considered her living alone as something dangerous.
The matter is being investigated.
