Prison Fellowship Guyana in collaboration with Guyana Prison Service yesterday held a Christmas get together for children whose fathers are incarcerated.
The event was held at the Prison Officers’ Club on Camp Street.
Reverend Fay Clarke who is a Superintendent and Chaplin of Prisons, said the Prison Fellowship hopes to make the occasion an annual one, while persons in society must realize that inmates also have families.
The reverend Clarke said most of the mothers and the children came all the way from Linden while some of the kids were allowed to spend some time with their respective father.
Most of the gifts and other items were donated by Food for the Poor. Prison staff also had their children’s Christmas party at the club yesterday.
Many of the children related that they were happy that they had the opportunity to see their fathers.
