Christmas will be a wonderful occasion for 49-year-old Bhagwandai Gangadeen, a housewife and mother of two, who is now the proud owner of a brand new car which she won in a competition hosted by Ansa McAl Limited.
Gangadeen, who hails from Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara (WCD) secured the grand prize after participating in the beverage company’s “ Ariel Clean Sweep- win a car not a cart promotion” .
She stated that when she received the telephone call notifying her that she won the Toyota Allion, she thought it was a prank.
“I didn’t believe. I thought was a prank call when I heard a woman telling me how I win a car. I said to myself it wasn’t true. But when she ask further if I didn’t enter the Ariel Clean Sweep competition then I realize it was true. I send in 10 entries” said Gangadeen.

The woman explained that she does not have a driver’s license yet, but her nephew will be driving the car. This vehicle will come in handy for her household, especially her two daughters.
“My husband is overseas. I need a car. When relatives come to Guyana we have a car to transport them and such.”
Managing Director of Ansa McAl, Beverly Harper, emphasized that this being the Christmas season, the company felt it appropriate to give the public something of worth and value during this season.
“ This is the first ever Ariel Clean Sweep competition and we just decided this year to give away a brand new car. We had thousands of entries from many persons from as far as Bartica, Linden, Berbice, Essequibo, all these places. Everyone can be a winner,” posited Harper.
There were 41 winners in this competition; the grand prize being a car, 20 “32 inch” flat screen televisions, and 20 hampers worth $20,000 each.
