The Annual Woodpecker Junior Christmas Singles Tournament
for 2011 started at the Queens College Badminton Courts yesterday and is expected to conclude today with the remaining matches.
Several players turned in good performances and are in line for championship honours, while the Ramdhani siblings and Angelica Holder won their respective categories. Priyanna Ramdhani beat Ambika Ramraj to take the U-11 girls crown, while Narayan Ramdhani overcame Cecil Abrams to take the U-15 boys title.
Angelica Holder got past Tricia Ramjit to collect the U-19 girls crown.

Jonathan Mangra defeated Ajave Singh: 21-13, 21-14
Ajave Singh Defeated Omari Joseph: 18-21, 21-13, 21-10

Under-11 Girls Singles Finals:
Priyanna Ramdhani defeated Ambika Ramraj: 21-16, 21-10
Under-15 Boys Singles Semi-Finals:

Cecil Abrams defeated Ajave Singh: 21-12, 21-12
Under-15 Boys Singles Finals:
Narayan Ramdhani defeated Cecil Abrams: 21-12, 21-12
Under-15 Girls Singles Semi-Finals:
Ambika Ramraj defeated Varsha Boodram: 21-14, 21-18
Priyanna Ramdhani defeated Nadine Jairam: 21-8, 21-14
Under-19 Boys Singles Quarter-Finals:
Nicholas Ali defeated Cecil Abrams: 21-9, 21-15
Avinash Odit defeated Noel Shewjattan: 21-18, 25-23
Jonathan Hohenkirk defeated Christopher Persaud: 21-16, 16-21, 21-10
Narayan Ramdhani defeated Sanjave Singh: 21-13, 21-15
Under-19 Girls Singles Finals:
Angelica Holder defeated Tricia Ramjit: 21-4, 21-6
The Tournament continues today from 10:30am with the remaining finals and third place play-offs.
