A mid-afternoon fire yesterday, temporarily halted operations at the DIDCO Wholesale depot at Ruimveldt and proved to be more than just a scare for some of the visibly shocked employees.
According to reports, technicians at the local chicken giant were about to service the industrial size electricity generator when upon opening it, plumes of smoke began to emanate.

The smoke quickly transformed into flames and engulfed the generator, sending workers of the company into panic.
Tenders from the Guyana Fire Service arrived and using special foam, quickly extinguished the electrical fire before it could have caught onto the actual building.
This publication understands that the generator had been installed only the previous day and had operated for a few hours.
