Berbicians, especially businesses are reeling from unending power outages that have been rampant over the past week. But many persons expressed their preparedness for such an occurrence especially since they noted that the performance of the Guyana Power & Light Incorporated (GPL Inc) usually gets from bad to worse during the festive season.
Kaieteur News visited several business persons and spoke to men and women in New Amsterdam who all had negative reviews for the current spate of blackouts in the region.
“Is a new government but same old story with GPL,” said a businessman. “We have a new President but GPL doesn’t seem to be improving any bit,” stated another.
Many businesses are complaining of the loss they are certain to incur during this Christmastime since they have to spend a lot of money on gasoline to operate stand-by generators.
Several attempts to reach GPL Berbice operations Manager, Mr Ayube Bacchus proved futile.
