Double header continues today at MSC
Retrieve Raiders topped Block 22 Flames 51-39, while Kashif and Shanghai prevailed over Amelia’s Ward Jets by the slimmest of margins, 49-48, when the Linden Amateur Basketball Association’s Under 23 basketball championship bounced off last Friday at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground in Linden.
The Raiders saw solid scoring from Sheldon Noel and Yannick Primo each with 10 points, as Omar Sam added six in their winning cause; while for the losers Selwyn Noble had a game high 17 points to be the main scorer for his Flames team.
In the second game of the evening, Kashif and Shanghai Kings were able to win their match against a strong Amelia’s Ward Jets side through former junior national Orin Rose who shot in four three-pointers for a 16 points game high score, while Quincy Easton and Akeel Primo contributed 10 points apiece as Quincy Halley got nine.
Junior national player Linden Fraser had a good game for the Jets getting a game high 17 points along with his captain Parrish Cadogan supporting with 13 points.
The LABA Under 23 championship will continue this evening with another double header feature at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court starting at 6.30pm.
Victory Valley Royals face GTS Half Mile Bulls, while in the second game at 8.30pm Block 22 Flames will play their second match in the tournament, coming up against Wismar Pistons.
