Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) has continued their usual support for the Kennard
Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) as that entity stages its Boxing Day horserace meet at the club’s Bush Lot Farm Corentyne racetrack on Monday December 26.
The B and Lower class over a distance of one mile is the main event and this race is being sponsored by Demerara Distillers Ltd under El Dorado rum brand and represents more than two decades of such an input by the beverage company.
Yesterday afternoon, Brand Manager of that product, Jeranzee Marques handed over the cheque and trophy to President of the KMTC, Justice Cecil Kennard at the company’s High Street offices. “We are pleased to be associated with the KMTC and this gesture represents our commitment to the sport as well as our way of giving back to the community,” advocated Mr. Marques. He further urged the public to support the venture even as they assume a responsible disposition.
Mr. Kennard expressed deep appreciation to his benefactor while pointing out that the acquisition of sponsorship is of vital importance to the successful staging of sports meet of this nature. He acknowledged the long term relationship enjoyed with the beverage company and attributed this to the accountability of executives of his organization. “The KMTC conducts an audit just after the completion of its meets and it is such accountability that is responsible for the continued support rendered by DDL,” he said.
