The suspect in last Friday’s stabbing death of Quacy Orandi Gray at Liverpool, Corentyne, is now in custody after being turned over to the police by relatives.
Kaieteur News understands that the suspect, 21-year-old Ronald Fraser, turned up at the home of relatives early yesterday morning. The relatives subsequently contacted police.
Fraser and the slain Quacy Gray are related. Gray, a farmer, was also employed as a cane harvester at Albion Estate. He lived at Lot 20 Manchester Village, Corentyne, Berbice, with a brother and sister in law.
Felicia Fraser, the victim’s aunt, said that her nephew had gone to a bar at nearby Liverpool Village to hang out with some friends.
From what she has been told, Gray and the suspect had an altercation after Fraser accused Gray of being an ‘informer’ and a ‘watchman’.
She said that she understood that a fight ensued during which the suspect allegedly stabbed Gray in the stomach with a pair of scissors before escaping.
Another relative alleged that Gray was making a phone call while the suspect was “cutting up some weed with a pair of scissors”.
“He (the suspect) asked Gray if he (Gray) was a ‘cochore’ then they had an argument when he get stabbed up.”
Gray was rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital but succumbed on his way.
The murder weapon has been recovered. Gray leaves to mourn his father, four brothers and one sister.
