It will be fun mixed with intense rivalry when the Guyana Association of Scrabble Players (GASP) stages the final tournament of the year, a Scrabble Scramble, at the Malteenoes Sports Club Pavilion this Sunday (tomorrow) starting at 10:00hrs.
Whereas during the year players have been competing for trophies and other lucrative prizes, the winner of this competition walks away with a cash prize that could amount to thousands of dollars. Each player will contribute $500 as an entrance fee and GASP will match that sum which will be distributed to the three top finishers. Naturally, amidst the fun, the players would have their eyes on the prize plus there will be resumption to the rivalry characteristic of competitions throughout the year.
In the meantime, the executive and other players affiliated to GASP wish to express thanks to the many persons and entities that supported their programmes during 2011 even as they anticipate similar support in the year ahead. Consequently, those executives wish to convey best wishes for the festive season to all their friends and supporters.
