The post mortem examination which was performed on the remains of 36 year-old Jaigobin Lakeram Sukhdeo, of Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara has revealed that he suffered blunt trauma to his abdomen and his chest.
The post mortem was done on Wednesday last at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s mortuary by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh. Sukhdeo’s remains have since been handed over to the relatives for burial.
This publication has received information which suggested that the man may have indeed fallen from a scaffold at a worksite in Diamond, East Bank Demerara. Initially the man told his relatives before his death that he had fallen. However relatives did not believe the man’s story after someone reported to them that he may have been beaten by a man with whom he works.
A report from the area is that the man fell from the scaffold some at around 23:00 hours on Wednesday last.
There are further reports that the man was earlier in the day sent home by his employer because he was always under the influence of alcohol.
According to a source the man left the worksite but returned sometime later.
This publication was told that Sukhdeo was a very willing person but the alcohol he consumed rendered him incapable to work most time. Nevertheless the man was always welcomed around the worksite.
However person close to Sukdheo said that on the night in question, no construction work was going on at the worksite and it is still not clear what he was doing on the scaffold which was inside of the house. In addition, the man’s close friends who are also mourning his death, said that they regretted not taking him to the hospital on the night he fell.
However they claimed that Sukhdeo had insisted he did not want to go to the hospital as his injury did not seem serious at the time.
Meanwhile the police have since visited the site where the incident occurred and statements have been taken.
On Sunday night last Sukdheo died at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit while receiving treatment. Before being taken to the hospital the man told his relatives that he fell from a scaffold at his work site.
