Stakes now rise to over $6.7M
As entries continue to pour in for the Kennard Memorial annual One Day Boxing Day Horserace meet one new event has been added to the list of races by the organizers of the activity making it a 10 race card which is slated for Monday December 26 at the Club’s entity situated at Bush Lot Farm on the Corentyne.
According to Honorary President Cecil Kennard, the new event is for Two Year old Guyana Bred Horses and will be run over a distance of 6 Furlongs for a winner’s money of $300,000 and trophy. This new addition has come about as a request of horse owners.
With the addition of the new event the prize monies has now jumped to over $6.7M which will be available in cash and trophies.
The events listed are the feature B class race which will cover a distance of One Mile for the hefty $1M winner’s money and trophy.
There is the 3-yrs-old race for horses Bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies also over one mile for the $500,000 top money. The D class event will see the animals cover a distance of six furlongs for the winning take of $400,000.
The two, two-year old six furlongs events also have purses of 400,000 and $300,000 respectively. The G and Lower race is another 6 furlongs event for a $300,000 winning.
The H and Lower goes for 7 furlongs with the first prize tagged at $220,000.
The ‘I1 and lower 6 furlongs event will see the winner receiving $180,000.
There is $160,000 available for the winner of the I3 event which covers a distance of 6 furlongs, while the winner of the K class contest also over six furlongs will see the champion taking away $100,000.
Entries close on Sunday and no late entries will be entertained.
The outstanding jockeys, Trainer and stable will all received trophies and other accolades compliments of Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
