National Badminton Coach, and President of the Guyana Badminton Association, Gokarn
Ramdhani completed the Advance Course in Badminton in Changsha, Hunan Province in China which took place in Changsha City October 19, 2011 to December 13, 2011.
The closing ceremony took place December 13 where Ramdhan received his Advance Coaching Certificate presented by Mr. Ou Zuzhong, Deputy Director of Cooperation Office, Department of Commerce of Hunan Province.
“I am happy to receive this certificate which was hard work with both the theory and practical but I know the sacrifice I made is for the future of Badminton in Guyana. The high tech training will improve the training methods and will help our Junior Teams that are doing well at the Pan American and the Caribbean Games to do much better and keep our National Flag flying in the international circuit,” Ramdhani stated in a release.
He continued, “I would also like to thank the Ministry of Commerce, People’s Republic of China and the Economic & Commercial Counselor’s Office of the People’s Republic of China in Guyana who made it possible for this advance coaching course possible.”
The Course for high level Coaches included China’s basic national conditions, development status and trends of world badminton, badminton sports and its competition rules, badminton sports psychology, strength and endurance training, badminton techniques and tactics.
Other activities that took place was having a symposium with leaders, specialists and coaches from badminton circles in Hunan, surveying the development situation of non-governmental badminton in Hunan, visiting Hunan Anhua Badminton School, which is the cradle of China’s Badminton Champions, having a contest with the retired world champions or active champions in China, symposium on the development situation of badminton of the college of Physical Education, Hunan Normal University.
