With the horse racing season coming to an end all focus will now be on the Kennard Memorial Turf Club, situated at Bush Lot farm on the Corentyne, when that entity stages their grand annual Boxing Day one day horserace meet on Monday December 26 at the Club’s entity, Corentyne. So far over 40 entries have been received.
Nine races are slated for the days programme which will have a whopping $6M in trophies and cash incentives available. They are a number of top notch events listed on the day’s card including the feature event for horses classified B and lower. There is also the 3-yrs-old race for horses Bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies. Two other top of the line events are the D class contest and the 2-yrs old Open race.
The events listed are the feature B class race which will cover a distance of One Mile for the hefty $1M winner’s money and trophy.
There is the 3-yrs-old race for horses Bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies also over one mile for the $500,000 top money.
The D class event will see the animals cover a distance of six furlongs for the winning take of $400,000.
The two year old six furlongs event also has winning money of 400,000. The G and Lower race is another 6 furlongs event for a $300,000 winning. The H and Lower goes for 7 furlongs with the first prize tagged at $220,000.
The ‘I1 and lower 6 furlongs event will see the winner receiving $180,000. There is $160,000 available for the winner of the I3 event which covers a distance of 6 furlongs, while the winner of the K class contest also over six furlongs will see the champion taking away $100,000.
Entries close on Sunday 18th and no late entries will be entertained.
The outstanding jockeys, Trainer and stable will all received trophies and other accolades compliments of Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
