The Hornets Rugby Football Club (Hornets RFC) fielded a female team in the Carib Beer Tobago International Sevens Tournament which was held in Trinidad and Tobago over the weekend.
The squad which included several guest players from the Yamaha Caribs Rugby Football Club (Yamaha RFC) won all their games to emerge as champions.
Four (4) female teams, three (3) from Trinidad and Tobago, entered the tournament which was contested on a round robin format over the two days.
On Day 1 each team played three games, while on the final day a similar amount of games were played with the top two teams moving on to contest the final.
The full results are as follows:
Day 1: Hornets defeated Police 53-0 and then followed up with a 38-0 triumph over a Select 7, while in their final matchup against Tobago, the Guyanese won 52-0.
On the final day of competition, Hornets crushed Police 46-0 and then returned to dispose of Select 7 33-5, before dispatching Tobago 47-0.
In the final against Select 7, the Guyanese produced another ruthless performance to ease to another lop-sided victory, beating the hosts 52-0 to take the championship trophy.
The team scored 321 points overall, while conceding a mere five points for a dominant performance.
