The Guyana Police Force is anticipating the expansion of the Rosemary
Lane Youth Club Programme.
This will expose its members who are children from depressed communities including Tiger Bay and Albouystown to an expansive programme.
Crime Chief, Seelall Persaud, made this announcement at the Force’s annual Christmas Party for the children of the Rosemary Lane Youth Club Programme on Sunday at the Police Sports Club, Eve Leary.
The programme has been in existence for 20 years and has allowed ranks to contribute to the growth and development of youths. They have been engaged in several programmes such as Information Technology training, religious teachings, and sports.
Persaud noted that the programme helps to build the interpersonal relationship skills of youths, instill good religious values and craft an alternative method for youths of depressed communities to express themselves.
He praised the ranks who are integrally involved in the children’s lives, providing a good role model.
Through songs, dances, poems and a skit the youths proved that they are making use of the lessons taught. The youngsters entertained the audience comprising Senior Officers and other ranks.
Persaud promised some of the performers monetary rewards for their heart warming performances. The children were presented Christmas gifts.
