Ogle Airport Inc. (OAI) has elected a new Board of Directors with the new Chairman
now, Michael Correia Jnr.
According to a statement released by the company which manages the facility at Ogle, East Coast Demerara, this time around, Air Services Limited, a major shareholder, again has representation on the board with Yacoob Ally.
Correia Jnr would be representing PFHG Plc and Correia Mining Company Limited.
Also elected as Director/Secretary is Nicole Correia of Trans Guyana Airways Limited while the Directors will be Anthony Mekdeci, Hinterland Tours Inc.; Beni Sankar and Francis Comacho of F.J. Comacho (Guyana) Inc.
Government has been eyeing the Ogle Airport as a hub for regional flights with improvements currently underway there to lengthen the runways.
It has increasingly been serving as base for hinterland flights, especially for taking supplies to goldminers and forestry operators, among others.
However, the privately-run company has not been without its share of conflicts with Air Services Limited clashing with management and saying that it was deliberately left out of the board during elections last year despite having significant investments at the airport.
A few months ago, Air Services Limited clashed with management after it attempted to purchase fuel from its own sources.
ASL in a short statement yesterday said that the company welcomed the inclusion on the board.
“Air Serviced Limited is encouraged by this development which sees our company represented on the Board of Ogle Airport Incorporated (OAI) which is tasked with fair and equitable management of the development of Ogle Airport.
“In the immediate term we look forward to the new team of directors moving towards the resolution of our outstanding matters as such an approach will produce dividends to ASL as well as our customers.”
