Tomorrow is Human Rights Day in celebration of basic freedoms.
According to the Guyana Human Rights Association (GHRA), the continuous practice of ‘ethnic politics’ in Guyana has interfered with the public’s human rights.
The GHRA is proposing that a national consultation, be set to aim for a better understanding of the political significance of ethnicity in Guyana.
In addition to the many figures observing Human Rights Day, the United Nations urges persons to become familiar with their rights and demand they be respected by authority figures.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights has impacted persons worldwide regardless of gender, race or class in providing and protecting us with inalienable rights.
Speaking on protesters around the world the U.N states, “Many of these peaceful demonstrators persevered despite being met with violence and further repression.
“In some countries, the struggle continues; in others, important concessions were gained or dictators were toppled as the will of the people prevailed.”
