Fisherman allegedly makes merry with woman’s articles

Christopher Gomes, a 39-year-old fisherman, who later pleaded not guilty to the charge of break and enter and larceny, has been remanded.
Gomes of  26 Hill Street, Albouystown, was accused of stealing articles, property of Noreen Nadir. Gomes is said to have stolen items such as a gas cylinder, pump injector, hand drills and rope.
“I’m pleading guilty because I don’t want to waste time, even if I did not take the items. I was at the place so I am taking responsibility.” He was then informed by the court that a plea of guilty could not be accepted if he is stating that he did not take the articles.
In contrast to the man’s claim the prosecution told the court that between December 6 and December 7 the complainant was sleeping when she was awakened by a noise. She got up and checked her premises. When the woman looked out of her window she saw the defendant standing in the yard. She raised an alarm and persons came to her assistance.
A report was made and investigations were carried out. Some of the items were reportedly found in the man’s possession.
The prosecutor felt that if Gomes was posted bail he would not return to answer the charge against him.
Gomes will be back in court on January 6.
