Corpse taken out of tomb, stripped and violated

A Parika family which was still trying to come to grips with the death of one of its family member was yesterday greeted with the horrifying news that the corpse they had buried on Wednesday was outside the tomb.

17 year-old Tricia Ramnarine whose corpse was dug up by person/persons unknown one day after burial.

According to reports the corpse of 17 year-old Tricia Maria Ramnarine was found half naked in her casket. Her tomb had been broken into at the Parika Salem Burial Ground. The discovery was made by the dead woman’s brother, Christopher Ramnarine, around 09:30 hours. The woman’s uncle, Joseph Ramcharran, told this publication that he sent his nephew to check on the tomb to ensure that the cement work was done well.
“We just send he to make sure that the tomb did not have any cracks”.
The woman was buried on Wednesday. She had died on Tuesday while being treated at the West Demerara Regional Hospital for poison ingestion. The young woman had ingested poison on November 26 last.
“When he come back he tell me that somebody break in the tomb, so we call the police and we went back to the burial ground.”
The man said that when they accompanied the woman’s brother back to the cemetery they found that the tomb was broken and from all indication the corpse was removed from the casket and subsequently replaced.
A relative of the dead woman believed that the tomb was broken into on Thursday night. The woman’s brother added that his sister’s corpse was covered in mud, suggesting that it was removed from the casket and replaced. Relatives believed that the corpse was sexually molested.
The police arrived some time later, photographed the corpse and ensured that the tomb was re-sealed. The police also took possession of the corpse.
However family members remain at a loss as to why someone would want to commit such an act on the young woman. They said that there were equally shocked at the woman’s committing suicide.
The relatives are awaiting a report on whether the corpse was sexually molested. The relative are also hoping that the investigation will be done in a timely manner so that they can finally give Tricia a second burial.

What is going on in Guyana? I hope that the police use whatever DNA evidence they are able to collect to help them find the fiend(s) who are responsible for this atrocity.

My sympathy goes out to the parents and relatives of this girl who, for whatever reason, deemed it necessary to take her own life and then to have her corpse treated with such indignity.

  Semore, I totally agree with you my friend. The person or persons who did this are more than sick. But don’t make it sound like Guyana is a sick society because there is no other country in the world full of sickness than America. So if there is any country that needs help from the man upstairs, it’s the land that we all think is a bed of roses.

If the corpse was molested a sample of any bodily fluids found, should be taken and DNA matches created and as the investigations continue should a suspect be identified a DNA should be taken and compared that will make an airtight case.
