– action continues tonight
Several exciting and closely fought matches highlighted the latest round of matches in the ‘Guinness Greatest of de Street’ FUTSAL Tournament which resumed after a short break on Tuesday evening, at the Cultural Centre Tarmac.
In the opening game, YMCA defeated Upper Level Barber Shop 3-2 in one of the exhibition segment.
For the winners, Dexter Duncan 9th min, Shemroy Grandison 10th min and Devon Caesar 13th min were on target, while Upper Level responded through Warren Williams7th min and Aarun Fraser 16th min.
The Media gained a walkover from Sweet Point. Game 3 saw Queen Street Tiger Bay beating BV 4-2 in extra time after the game ended 2-2 at the end of regular time.
Delroy Deen 3rd and 8th min, was on target for BV but in a losing cause as Eon Alfred 19th, 24th, 28th and 29th min was the man on fire for Tiger Bay.
Guinness Bar and Oasis drew 1-1 with Odwin Hendricks 11th min scoring for the Guinness Bar, while Gasper Benfield 6th min responded for Oasis.
Game 5 resulted in Customs scoring 4 goals to Clippers 2. Goals Scorers for Customs
Were Rawle Johnny 4th, 6th and 11th min and Garfield Todd 10th min, while for Clippers Mark Daniels 8th min
Dave Waterman 19th min replied.
Game 6 saw West Front Road beating Globe Yard 3-0. For West Front Road Michael Pedro 16th and 17th min and Hubert Pedro 19th min ensured their victory.
Hope Street Tiger Bay edged Charlestown 2-1. For Hope Street Tiger Bay, Soloman Austin 7th min and Dwayne Dickson 29th min saw them to victory, while Travis Heyliger 6th min replied for Charlestown.
And in the final game of the night, Durban Street lost to Alexander Village 0-1 with Sheldon Greaves 19th min strike being the deciding factor.
Competition continues today with action in the Knockout Round of 16 at the Culture Centre Tarmac from 19:00hrs.
Play opens with YMCA vs Oasis followed at 19:30hrs by Customs vs Media, 20:00hrs Back Circle vs North-Last entrance and at 20:30hrs Clippers vs Sweet point. Following a short break, the action will resume at 21:00hrs with Upper level vs Guinness Bar, 21:30hrs West back Road vs Island All star, 22:00hrs Broad Street vs Albouystown B and at 22:30hrs Lodge Housing Scheme vs East Front Road in the nightcap.
