NBS 2nd division 40 over cricket…Bassant 118, Roopchand 74 guide Gangaram Strykers to 354 for 8

Lawrence Bassant slammed 118 (15×4 5×6) and Latchman Roopchand 74 (4×4 8×6) to guide Gangaram Strykers to a mammoth 354 for 8 in 40 overs against Celebrity Times, who did not help their own cause by conceding 61 extras, when play in the New Building Society Second Division cricket competition continued in the Ancient County.
Celebrity Times, not to be undone, gave a good chase with opening batsmen David Looknauth (72) and Arshad Farik (69) putting on 154 for the opening stand in just 14.1 overs. Farik and Totaram Seenanan chipped in to take the score to 238 before both fell in quick succession, Seenanan departing for 75.
Chaitram Budhu then picked up the mantle to keep his team in the hunt, but he ran out of partners as Celebrity Times fell short of the winning target by a mere 24 runs. Budhu ended on 57 (5×4 5×6). Off spinner Naresh Dhanraj led the bowling with 4 for 51 for Strykers.
No. 68 Challengers opening batsman Munesh Lalu stroked 67 (2×4 7×6) to lead his side to 220 all out in 30.2 overs against No. 35 Young Adventurers who were sent packing for 118 in reply, Challengers left arm spinner Javindra Baijnauth grabbing 5 for 37.
Other batsmen registering half centuries were Matthew Maltay of Sisters, Tony Garnett of Kendall’s Union ‘A’ and Ravin Seecharran of Kendall’s Union B.

At Gangaram – Gangaram Strykers beat Celebrity Times by 24 runs. Gangaram Strykers 354 for 8 in 40 overs; Lawrence Bassant 118, Latchman Roopchand 74, Naresh Dhanraj 36, Bharat Puran 25*, Arshad Farik 3 for 66, Farouk Hussain 2 for 31.
Celebrity Times 330 in 38 overs; Totaram Seenanan 75, David Looknauth 72, Arshad Farik 69, Chaitram Budhu 57*, Naresh Dhanraj 4 for 51, Bharat Puran 3 for 48.
At No. 48 – No. 48 Challengers humbled No. 35 Young Adventurers by 102 runs. No. 48 Challengers 220 in 30.2 overs; Munesh Lalu 67, H. Homraj 36.  No. 35 Young Adventures 118 in 22.3 overs; Javindra Baijnauth 5 for 37, Rayon Ameir 3 for 36.
At Sisters – Sisters got past Glasgow New Scheme by 39 runs. Sisters 234 for 5 in 30 overs; Matthew Maltay 80, Phillip Wilburgh 27, Neal Adams 26, Ralph Chakalall 2 for 40.  Glasgow New Scheme 195 in 28 overs; Compton Hope 29, Deonarine Seepersaud 27, Ralph Chakalall 27, Phillip Wilburgh 2 for 35.
At Kendall’s Union – Kendall’s Union B upstaged their ‘A’ side by 5 wickets. Kendall’s Union ‘A’ 171 for 6 in 35 overs; Tony Garnett 67, Sammy Saul 25, Ravin Seecharran 3 for 24, Vicky Sewdat 2 for 16.  Kendall’s Union B 172 for 5 in 22.1 overs; Ravin Seecharran 66*, Brian Baker 4 for 33.
At No. 52 – No. 52 Survival defeated No. 45 by 73 runs. No. 52 Survival 186 in 28 overs; Charles France 47, Michael Kendall 46, Charran Persaud 2 for 23.  No. 45 113 in 19.1 overs; Wayne Garnett 3 for 15, Curtis Williams 3 for 34, Amit Ramroop 2 for 22, Michael Kendall 2 for 28.
At Bush Lot Farm – Kennard’s Memorial hammered Kildonan by 9 wickets. Kildonan 77 in 26.4 overs; Paul Ashram 30, Somesh Mangru 3 for 13, Karamchand Ramnarine 2 for 12.  Kennard’s Memorial 81 for 1 in 10.3 overs; Kamadevin Permauloo 41*.
At Cumberland, Young Warriors beat Defenders by 6 wickets. Defenders 141 in 31 Overs with Sean Phillips 25, Shazad Khan 3 for 29, Charran Singh 2 for 15.  Young Warriors 145 for 4 in 15.1 Overs with Shimron Hetmyer 43, Mortimer Fraser 43, Seon Hetmyer 40 N.O, Joel Amsterdam 3 for 44.
