-Competition resumes tonight
Organisers of the ‘Guinness Greatest in the streets’ Futsal Competition has added another dimension to the event by including an exhibition segment which will have 8 teams divided into two groups that will play for prize monies totalling in the vicinity of $200,000.
This was disclosed to the press via a briefing that was conducted at the Guinness Bar on Durban Street yesterday.
Attended by co-ordinators Marlan Cole and Troy Mendonca, the latter announced that the sponsors acting on advice made the commitment to plug an additional set of money towards the exhibition segment that is sure to generate excitement and bragging rights among the eight invited teams.
Those invited are: Group A- Customs, Clippers Barber Shop, the Media and Sweet Point, while Group B consists of Upper Level Barber Shop, YMCA, Guinness Bar and Oasis Café.
The winning team will receive $100,000, runner-up-$50,000, 3rd place-$25,000 and 4th place-$15,000.
Meanwhile, the Organisers have listed the rules for the competition and they are as follows:
1. It is a round robin knock out tournament. Each team plays each other in the group and the two top teams from the group advance to the semi finals and finals.
2. Players must be at least 18 years and over to participate in this tournament. Players who participate in the Guinness in da Street 2011 are not allowed to represent any teams.
3. A maximum of ten (10) players can be registered for any team.
4. Four (4) players shall be on the field for a game with rolling changes, and each team is entitled to three (3) 30 seconds time out per game.
5. Each game shall have a duration of Twenty Five 25 (Min) with Two 2 equal half’s of 12 & 1\2 (Min), However in the KO stage of the competition extra time of Eight (8) min shall apply with two (2) equal half of Four 4 (Min). If there is still no winner penalty shoot-out shall apply with 4 kicks and sudden death if the game is still dead locked.
6. Any player that touches the ball in the restricted area at the mouth of his team’s goal, shall result in a penalty kick against his team.
7. Teams attracting in excess of Five (5) fouls during a match shall result in a penalty for the apposing team, and the same penalty applies for each additional foul in the period (12 & 1\2) or (4) min.
8. Teams must be at the venue at least fifteen minutes (15min) before the start of any match.
9. Teams are required to walk with gears except tops since the organizers will be providing tops.
10. Should a player receive a “RED CARD” before, during or after any match the player shall sit out the game for the period 12 & 1\2 or 4 min.
11. The first name team on the fixtures shall use Black Guinness Bibs and the second name team Yellow Guinness Bibs.
12. The rules may at any time be amended or added to, in adherence to the Rules of the GFF, CONCACAF and FIFA, in any case not provided for by the rules.
