A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) last evening held a prayer vigil at the Square of the Revolution as part of their ongoing movement for ‘change’ in Guyana, even after the swearing in of President Donald Ramotar. Several speakers expressed their inability to accept Guyana’s seventh Executive President, Donald Ramotar, by referring to David Granger, APNU’s leader as ‘President Granger’.
Utilizing verses from the Holy Bible, gospels and prophetic dances, the speakers, pointed out that the gathering was fighting a spiritual battle.
One of the speakers was City Mayor Hamilton Green, who told the gathering that the vigil is part of a process to sensitize citizens of the serious situation affecting the country. He noted that on November 28, when Guyanese went to the polls to elect a new Government, it indicated for the first time in many years that young people are willing to take things in their own hands.
Pastor Eworth Williams stated that despite the fact that many APNU supporters ventured out to vote for the first time on November 28 and the results have left many in tears days after, God has everyone covered.
Williams emphasised that he was saddened when President Ramotar at his swearing in ceremony declared that the Government was a PPP Government. He suggested that President Ramotar should have met with APNU’s David Granger and the leader of the Alliance for Change Khemraj Ramjattan to discuss shared governance.
Referring to the Bible, he stated that there is no peace without justice and peace is derived when justice is served.
Williams insisted that the prayer service is going to surprise the enemy. He stressed that the enemy will expect them to throw bricks at stores’ walls, but the gathering is only praying. He added that the enemy will expect them to be at home crying but the opposite is happening.
